Born in Carvalho, Alijó (1966), graduate in Biology and Geology (1991), master in Biology (1995), PhD in Biological Sciences (2001), University of the Azores, auxiliary professor at the University of the Azores since 2001. Specialized in Functional Biology, and also interested in invertebrate reproduction, ecotoxicology and environmental health. Researcher at Centro de Investigação de Recursos Naturais (CIRN), molecular, cellular, tissue and organismal adaptations to extreme environments of volcanic origin constitute presently his main research issue.
